Investment Instruments
The AfDB Group manages over UA 8.85 billion (USD 14.12 billion) worth of liquidity. This liquidity is invested in a wide range of currencies and is subdivided in various portfolios with different investment horizon, objectives and guidelines. To optimize the returns on the different portfolios, a wide range of financial instruments are used; notably:
- Deposits, repurchase agreements, commercial papers, Foreign Exchange and Currency swaps for cash management;
- Various derivatives for interest rate and credit risk management (swaps, futures, CDS, etc);
- Fixed-rate and floating rate securities, corporate bonds, Asset-Backed-Securities (ABS) and Mortgage-Backed-Securities (MBS).
