South African journalist, Lerato Mbele has been with CNBC Africa since its launch in 2007. Lerota Mbele is passionate about African Development and for this reason she has geared her studies in Political Science and International Relations towards a focus on Africa's role in world affairs. Her work in the media reflects this fascination with the African condition. Her early years as a broadcaster were spent at radio station SAFM, then SABC Africa where she conceptualized and anchored a current affairs Programme dealing specifically with diplomatic issues facing Africa. She is a Chevening Scholar and a regular speaker and moderator at conferences around African Development, in 2009 hosting the Promise of Leadership Summit with President Paul Kagame, for the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
