Past AECs

Jointly organized by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the AEC aims at providing a forum for the exchange of ideas among economists and policy-makers with the view to improving access to information and research on economic issues and, as a consequence, the quality of economic policy-making in Africa. The AfDB launched the first annual African Economic Conference (AEC) in November 2006. UNECA and UNDP came on board as co-organizers respectively in 2007 and in 2010.

“Our goal is clear: achieve food self-sufficiency for Africa in ten years, eliminate malnutrition and hunger and move Africa to the top of agricultural value chains.” – Akinwumi Adesina, AfDB President
