Gaston Gohou

DR. GASTON GOHOU is a Principal Economist at the African Development Bank (AfDB). He is an expert on development and poverty issues, and on project/program management with more than 18 years of professional experiences. Dr. GOHOU worked previously for the Government of Cote d’Ivoire, the World Bank in Abidjan and Washington DC, and a private consulting firm in Canada. He also taught development economic at the University of Maryland at College Park, USA.
He advised several Governments in Africa and Asia on the design, implementation, and Monitoring & Evaluation of development projects/programs, including poverty reduction strategies and National Development Plans. Dr Gohou is also a co-founder of an NGO, Development from Inside (DI), which aims to support local solutions to development problems.
His research interests include applied development economics, especially poverty issues, applies econometrics and project management. Dr. GOHOU has worked in several countries including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Cameroon, Canada, Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Italy, Malaysia, Mali, Senegal, The United States of America and Tunisia.
Dr. GOHOU holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Maryland at College Park, USA; a Master degree in Statistics and Applied Economics (ISE) from ENSEA of Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire; and a Master in Applied Mathematics from the University of Abidjan and. He is fluent in both French and English.
