Giorgia Giovannetti

GIORGIA GIOVANNETTI is full Professor of Economics at the University of Florence (since 2001) and visiting Professor at the European University Institute, where she acts as Scientific Director of the European Report on Development. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Cambridge - UK, and has held positions at the Universities of Cambridge (fellow of Trinity College), Rome and Cassino. She has been visiting Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Barcelona), and New York University (in Florence). Her research interests include macroeconomics, political economy, international trade and development economics. She has been working extensively on development issues, on the link between trade and foreign direct investments, on international economic policy and on firms’ dynamics. Her publications include papers published in academic journals (EER, RED, Applied Economics) as well as in collected books and international series of working papers.
She has presented the results of her work in many international conferences and seminars. She has directed the Research Centre of the Italian Trade Institute for two years and has been advising its President for the past 5 years. She has also been an advisor for the Italian Treasury and the Ministry of Foreign Trade. She is the Scientific coordinator of the Fondazione Manlio Masi, observatory on the internationalization of small firms. She is member of the study group on globalization of OECD.
