Sunil S. Poshakwale

Professor Poshakwale started his professional career as Management Trainee in one of the largest public ltd. companies in India. Later he worked as a Senior Executive in Finance and as a Finance Manager for other large public companies where he headed the finance group and managed and implemented several projects. His academic career started in 1989 as a Lecturer in one of the top university management institutes in India. During 1992-1994 he won four prestigious international scholarships including the Commonwealth Scholarship to study for PhD in the Manchester Business School, University of Manchester in the UK. After finishing his PhD from Manchester in 1997, he became a lecturer in the Business School of University of Kent. In 1998, he joined as Lecturer in the Business School of the University of Birmingham and was later promoted as a Senior Lecturer. In 2002 he was appointed as the director of the MBA in International Banking and Finance Programme. Professor Poshakwale got his chair in 2004 as a Professor of Finance in the Business School of the University of Hull. Since 2006 he is working as Professor of International Finance in School of Management of Cranfield University which is currently ranked 3rd globally and 1st in the UK by Wall Street Journal. Globally, Cranfield is amongst only 18 top business schools with triple accreditations of AMBA, EQUIS, and AACSB.
Professor Poshakwale has extensively published research papers in top international journals such as Journal of Business, Finance and Accounting, Journal of Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, European Journal of Finance, Global Finance Journal, Managerial and Decision Economics, International Review of Financial Analysis, Applied Financial Economics, Asia-Pacific Journal of Accounting, China Accounting and Finance Review. He has presented research papers in a number of prestigious international finance conferences including European Financial Management Annual Meetings, Financial Management Association, Multinational Finance Society, Global Finance Conference, etc.
Professor Poshakwale is on the editorial board of Journal of Investment Management and Financial Innovations and Annals of Research in Financial Economics. He regularly referees research papers for many journals including The Financial Review, Corporate Governance: An International Review, Global Finance Journal, Applied Financial Economics, etc. He has successfully supervised four PhDs and is currently supervising three PhDs and two Executive Doctorate (DBA) students. His research interests include Financing, Investment and Corporate finance issues in Emerging Markets, International Portfolio and Foreign Direct Investments, Market Microstructure, Economic Liberalisation and Stock Markets, Financial Sector Efficiency and Governance issues.
Professor Poshakwale has a wide-ranging consulting experience in the area of corporate finance, investments and corporate governance and has acted as a Financial Management expert for several projects of the African Development Bank. He has also been providing expert advice and consultancy to private corporations. He is regularly invited to deliver lectures, seminars and workshops by many respected business schools in the UK and abroad.
