Abstract: The overarching goal of Malawi Growth and Development Strategy (MGDS) [2006/07-2010/11] is to accelerate economic growth and poverty reduction. The PRSG.I supports the implementation of the MDGS. The specific objective of the PRSG.I is to support Public Financial Management (PFM) reforms as laid out in the MDGS. The PRSG.I focuses on budget, audit and procurement reforms.

Abstract: The AfDB Poverty Reduction Budget Support Programme constitutes a discrete component within the Gambia General Budget Support Program (GBSP), which has been jointly conceived with the World Bank and European Union. Its overarching objective is to contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction through policy and institutional reforms. The proposed program is consistent with the goals of the country’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (2007-2011) and in particular focuses on the first pillar of the PRSP (2007-2011): “strengthening economic management and public service delivery”. The objectives of the program are mainly three: (i) promote efficiency, transparency and accountability in the use of public resources through effective budget planning, auditing and increased revenue mobilization; (ii) improve public services delivery through civil service reforms; and (iii) provide budget support to absorb the fiscal and balance of payments impact of the global food crisis, which manifested itself in the escalation of imported food and fuel prices.

Abstract: The objective of PARG is to support the Government’s economic growth and poverty reduction policy as outlined in the I-PRSP. PARG, which covers the fiscal year 2009-2010, is consistent with the Interim Poverty Reduction Strategy (I-PRSP/2008-2010) and is in line with the Bank’s intervention strategy in Togo for 2009-2010, as contained in the Interim Country Strategy Paper (I-CSP). It is consistent with the Bank’s guidelines on governance and its Fragile States Initiative. The PARG financing comprises two grants in the amount of UA 12.5 million, in the form of balance of payments support, and broken down as follows: a UA 10 million ADB/ADF “Fragile States Facility” grant and a UA 2.5 million ADB grant under the “African Food Crisis Response”. The Programme’s goal is to support the Government’s economic growth and poverty reduction policy by enhancing the efficient and transparent management of public resources. It will comprise the following four components: (i) improvement of public finance management; (ii) strengthening of the public procurement system; (iii) improvement of the business climate; and (iv) support to mitigate the impact of the food crisis. The expected Programme outcomes are essentially: (i) maintaining stability of the macro-economic environment; (ii) creating an institutional and regulatory environment that promotes transparency in the management of public resources. There are two types of PARG beneficiaries: public institutions (economic and financial) and various segments of the Togolese population, including economic operators and rural women, in particular.

Abstract: The Governments of Rwanda and Burundi decided to design an integrated rural development project for this region shared by the two countries. The sector goal of the Project is to reduce poverty in Bugesera region. Its specific objective is to sustainably increase agricultural production and improve the living conditions of the populations in Bugesera region.
