Abstract: In this report, the Operations Evaluation Department (OPEV) presents an overview of its activities for 2005. The future challenges in respect of an effective, independent evaluation function are also highlighted.
Abstract: The achievements of the year 2000 were significant, especially in respect of thematic and sector studies, the review of the operational procedures of the project cycle and the strengthening of the feedback mechanism, and the incorporation of lessons learned from experiences. These achievements consolidate the activities already carried out to enhance the approaches and instruments adopted for the evaluation and measurement of development effectiveness.
Abstract: OPEV’s activities for 1998 formed an integral part of the triennial rolling work programme of 1998-2000 1 , discussed by the Boards Committee on Operations and Development Effectiveness (CODE) and submitted to the Board of Directors for approval. The work programme took into account the plan of actions with a view to implementing the Working Group’s recommendations on the quality of projects, measures taken within the framework of ADF-VII mid-term review and preliminary consultations for the ADF-VIII replenishment.
Abstract: The 1996 Work Programme is en integral part of the Three-Year Rolling Programme for 1995-1997, which was first prepared in 1995. This programme established the post-evaluation of projects and programmes as its priority activity with a view to covering 50% of the PCRs received in 1995-1996, as well as the initiation, with effect from 1996, of work in new areas of evaluation as part of "Action Plan of Improving the Quality of Bank Group Operations".

Abstract: A review of the 1987 programme revealed that a majority of projects did not have PCR and several could not therefore be post evaluated which meant that urgent steps had to be taken to ensure a regular flow of PCRs
