Mauritania: Boghe Irrigated Agriculture Development Project (1.2 MB)
Abstract: The Boghe irrigation development project aimed at reducing Mauritania’s cereal deficit through the establishment and intensive double cropping of 1,000 ha of rice fields. Its initial total cost of FUA 8.7 million in 1974 increased to FUA 24.54 million in 1982, following a delay that occurred and changes that were made. The cost was financed by two ADF loans, one of FUA 4.30 million in 1974 and the other of FUA 2.77 million in 1982; one KFW loan of FUA 11.43 million; one Saudi Development Fund (SDF) loan of FUA 5.14 million; and one loan from the Mauritanian Government of FUA 0.90 million.
