Brixiova, Zuzana
Zuzana Brixiova is Principal Research Economist in the Research Division of the Development Research Department (EDRE). Formerly Senior Economist at the IMF, she has over ten years of operational experience on low and middle income countries in Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe, including as the IMF Resident Representative in Belarus and Lithuania. As Senior Economist and the Head of the Estonia and the Czech Republic desk in the Country Studies branch of the OECD’s Economics Department in 2008/09, she was one of the principal authors of the first OECD Economic Survey of Estonia.
During 2007/08 she was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Addis Ababa (2007/08) where she guided several M.A. theses in macroeconomics. She holds Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Minnesota and B.A. in Finance from the Prague University of Economics.
Current research interests: Labor Markets, Macroeconomics, SMEs and Private Sector Development in Emerging Market and Low Income Countries; Regional Economic Integration.
