Barfour Osei is Chief Research Economist in the Networking and Research Partnership Division (EDRE.2) of the Development Research Department (EDRE). He is a Development Economist by profession. He holds a Doctorate (Ph.D) in Economics from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom. Before joining the Bank Mr. Osei had accumulated over 20 years professional experience working in Universities, Research Institutions and the Public Sector of his home country, Ghana. He taught several courses at both the undergraduate and graduate level in Economics and Management at local Universities in Ghana and supervised several postgraduate theses. As part of his university teaching, he has held visiting professorship in a number of universities. Also, he has held several advisory and consulting positions with leading Institutions including the World Bank, IMF, UNIDO, OECD, European Commission, UK ODI and GTZ.

Research interests

He is interested in research in the following areas: Macroeconomic and Economic Growth issues, Public Sector Economics, International Finance and Development, Labour and Employment Issues in Africa.
