Désiré Vencatachellum is Lead Research Economist in the Development Research Department. Prior to joining the African Development Bank in September 2005, Désiré Vencatachellum was Professor of Economics at HEC Montréal, Université de Montréal, where he taught applied econometrics and development economics. He holds a Ph.D. in Economics (Queen’s University, Canada) and a Magistère Ingénieur-Économiste (Université d’Aix-Marseille II).

Research interests

Désiré Vencatachellum has conducted analysis of returns to education, HIV/AIDS and economic growth. In addition, since joining the African Development Bank, he has been working on the impact of high oil prices on African economies and social service delivery in Africa.
