Yannis Arvanitis

Mr. Yannis Arvanitis joined the AfDB in December 2010 as a research economist focusing on project assessments. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked at the Chief Economist’s Office of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), on project assessment, strategy and monitoring. Over the time spent there, he focused on the strategic analysis of operations’ impact across sectors with an emphasis on private sector development and poverty reduction. Prior to that, he also spent time at the EBRD’s Official Co-Financing Unit on technical cooperation, grant financing assessments and donor relations. He holds a B.A in ‘Economics and East European studies’ from University College London, and Master degrees in ‘Development studies’ and in ‘Political Economy’ from Sciences-Po Paris and the London School of Economics respectively. His research interests include, amongst other, private sector development and financial development.
