Improving Statistics for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and Rural Development

The Action Plan for Africa for Improving Statistics for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture, and Rural Development has been developed in the framework of the Global Strategy for Improving Agricultural and Rural Statistics in order to respond to the declining quantity and quality of agricultural statistics in developing countries. It adopts a long-term perspective (10 to 15) years but will follow a phased approach, with the first phase covering the five-year period 2011-2015. It comprises three technical components i) technical assistance, ii) training iii) research, as well as a governance mechanism and a comprehensive and detailed country assessment.
