10/10/2012 - For the past decade, Africa has exhibited strong economic growth. A new economic growth momentum has been established. The continent weathered the financial crisis and has bounced back. But headline economic growth is not enough. Deliberate policies to reduce inequalities and promote inclusion are now needed more than ever before. It is time to focus on people’s expectations: decent work, a living wage, access to basic service, more democracy, and accountable governments. Africa and its people aim to be a pole for global growth in the decades ahead.

01/10/2012 - Compared to the rest of the country, southern Madagascar experiences cyclical droughts that threaten the population’s food security. In general, the country’s agricultural performance has remained weak, mainly due to low yields, poor basic infrastructure and lack of rural credit. To overcome these constraints, the government has developed sector policies and strategies that notably provide for the rehabilitation of irrigation areas such as the Lower Mangoky Scheme.

Since the first meeting in Seoul in 2006, KOAFEC has progressed into a highly recognized channel for economic cooperation and receives the full support of its co-organizers, including the African Development Bank, the Korean Ministry of Strategy and Finance, and the Export-Import Bank of Korea.

25/09/2012 - La BAD, la FAO et le Sénégal ont signé le vendredi 21 septembre 2012 à Dakar, un accord de don d’un million de dollars pour l’aide d’urgence au monde rural. Le ministre sénégalais de l’économie et des finances, gouverneur de la BAD pour le Sénégal, Amadou Kane, le représentant résident de la FAO, Amadou Ouattara et la représentante résidente régionale de la BAD au Sénégal, Leila Mokaddem, sont les cosignataires du document d’accord tripartite de don aux populations sinistrées frappées successivement par la sécheresse et les inondations.

10/09/2012 - The Community Agricultural Infrastructure Improvement Programme – Project I (CAIIP-1) resulted from a comprehensive review of Uganda’s agricultural sector, which was carried out in 2005 by the Ugandan government in collaboration with the African Development Bank (AfDB). The review, which was undertaken under the auspices of Uganda's Plan for Modernization of Agriculture, identified a number of investment gaps especially with regard to infrastructure - for access to markets, and for agro-processing, environmental and natural resource management.

29/08/2012 - The African Development Bank is conducting a second workshop with the theme “Improving Statistics for Food Security, Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development – Africa Action Plan” from August 27-29 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The first workshop was held in Kigali, Rwanda, in June.

27/07/2012 - Casamance, located in southwestern Senegal, has been involved in a struggle for independence since the 1980s. The Rural Development Support Project in Casamance (PADERCA) falls within the framework of the Economic and Social Activities Revitalization Program in Casamance, established by the Senegalese government since 2004 and aims at supporting the restoration of peace in this part of the country.
