16/05/2012 - The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank Group today in Tunis approved the equivalent of USD 436 million for the financing of Morocco’s power project, and two other investments in Africa. The first approval is an AfDB loan of Euro 168 million and USD 100 million Clean Technology Fund concessionary loan to finance the first phase of the Ouarzazate solar power station in Morocco.

15/05/2012 - The African Development Bank Group in North Africa – A Year of Transitions is the third annual report produced by the AfDB North region departments. As was the case in earlier editions, the report focuses on the underlying challenges the region faced prior to the Arab Spring. However, this edition probes the obstacles that led to the Arab Spring. It goes on to explore how political transitions underway will shape North Africa’s options in meeting its economic challenges.

15/05/2012 - La BAD et l’office chérifien des phosphates (OCP) ont signé, le 10 mai 2012 à Casablanca, un accord de prêt de 250 millions de dollars dans le cadre du programme d’investissement de l’OCP. Ce prêt est le premier financement non-souverain que la BAD accorde à une entreprise marocaine. Il constitue un repère important dans la vision de la Banque en matière de promotion des entreprises africaines.

07/05/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) is increasing the level of transparency over its operational actions and policies and sector strategies. The decision was taken by the AfDB’s Board of Directors on 2 May 2012, which approved the AfDB’s revised policy on disclosure and access to information. The Board recognized that more transparency and accountability were essential to the AfDB’s effectiveness in delivering its developmental mandate.

07/05/2012 - From May 2nd to May 5th, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has been a close partner of the UNESCO World Press Freedom Day in Tunis on ‘New Voices that help transform societies.’ “Media freedom and development are connected. You fail one you fail both! Only when you members of the press are free, transparent and accountable development can take place”, said President Donald Kaberuka to the 300 guests, part of international media and civil society during a lunch hosted by the African Development Bank at the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day in Tunis on May 4th 2012.
