The African Community of Practice is organizing its fifth annual meeting to formally launch the Africa Knowledge for Results initiative (AfriK4R), an AfDB-funded project in Tunis, Tunisia. Over 100 participants are expected to convene at the Africa Hotel in Tunis, including ministers, senior government officials, and members of parliament from the West African Economic and Monetary Union (WAEMU) and the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA), as well as development partners, leaders from civil society organizations, the private sector and academia.

African representatives such as AfDB President Donald Kaberuka will consult upon this new initiative during plenary sessions and roundtable discussions. Discussions will be facilitated by Hon. Peter Kenneth; Kenya’s Assistant Minister in the Ministry of State for Planning, National Development and Vision 2030, and Hon. Amadou Boubacar Cissé, Niger’s Minister of State for Planning, amongst others.

The AfriK4R framework aims to put new emphasis on moving toward more ownership, results and accountability in countries, building capable and performance-oriented states as well as acting regionally for greater impact. In order to help grow the African transformation agenda, the African Community of Practice on Managing for Development Results (AfCoP-MfDR) aims at sharing and using MfDR principles for sustainable change through actions such as the AfriK4R initiative.
