The President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina, has re-affirmed the Bank’s commitment to provide continued support to Lake Chad Member Countries and the Lake Chad Basin Commission.

Adesina, who made the commitment at a Regional Security Summit hosted by Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari in Abuja on May 14, said the Bank’s support will be in alignment with the High 5s Agenda, particularly the Feed Africa Program.

The Bank will also promote projects for the enhancement of resilience of production bases and ecosystems by working with countries to diversify their economies, provide countercyclical support to enable them address volatilities, maintain fiscal sustainability, enhance fiscal transparency and governance, promote inclusive growth and support regional integration, he said.

During their stay in Nigeria, President Adesina and his delegation paid a courtesy visit to Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo and the Minister of Finance and AfDB Governor for Nigeria, Kemi Adeosun.
