Book Launch - “The Cash Dividend: The Rise of Cash Transfers Programs in Sub-Saharan Africa”

This event is organized by the AfDB’s Human Development Department (OSHD). The book, titled “The Cash Dividend: The Rise of Cash Transfers Programs in Sub-Saharan Africa”, is authored by Marito Garcia, Lead Economist, and Charity Moore, Consultant, at the World Bank.

The publication presents the results from a review of 120 cash transfers programs (conditional cash transfers and unconditional cash transfers) initiated between 2000 and 2010 in 37 countries in Sub-Saharan Africa”. It provides a wealth of empirical detail about cash transfers programs in Sub-Saharan Africa, with reviews of programs country by country.
