Equatorial Guinea: President Kaberuka on Official Visit

President Donald Kaberuka was last week on an official visit to Equatorial Guinea where he was received in audience by President Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, and Prime Minister Ricardo Mangué Obama Nfubea. Mr. Kaberuka and his delegation held working sessions with the country’s Finance and Budget Minister, Marcelino Owono Edu, who also doubles as his country’s Governor at the Bank.  The delegation also met with the Sub-regional Integration Minister, Baltasar Engonga Edjo; Planning and Development Minister, José Ela Oyana and his assistant, Crisantos Martin Ebe; as well as with other officials.

Discussions during the meeting focused on the Bank’s assistance in the preparation and implementation of a national development plan for the country and the country’s future cooperation with the Bank.  They also discussed the Bank’s presence in the country, the hiring of the country’s citizens at the Bank and the Bank’s support in the management of the country’s large reserves.  The President’s visit made it possible to strengthen ongoing dialogue with the country with a view to establishing strategic cooperation between the Bank and the country. The President’s delegation included Messrs. Philippe-Henri Dacoury-Tabley, Ablassé Ouédraogo, Issa Koussoubé and GAFO Officer-in-Charge, Assitan Diarra-Thioune.
