The impact of the financial market crisis on developing countries will be the subject of a discussion in the European Parliament' Development Committee with the President of the African Development Bank Group, Donald Kaberuka (Thursday, 3 September 2009).
Recent message from AfDB President
The severe impact of the global downturn on emerging economies in Africa is often ignored by the West but the African Development Bank is working hard to preserve growth across the continent. Africa must be part of the solution to the global crisis.

The interview of the President was really interesting specially when talking about regional integration. If we look at the EU, after 50 years of european integration on a country level, regional integration is taking a bigger place. In fact, regional policy is today the key to success. "Countries" and no more analysed on a national level but on a regional level. Regional policy semms to be more appropriate if looking for real results. I think Africa should indeed focus more on that regional level. I will keep this remark short and end up here. Regards,
Micheline
