The African Development Bank (ADfB) and the International Trade Centre (ITC) are organising a high-level round table to present and discuss obstacles relating to Non-Tariff Measures (DTMs) that hamper regional integration efforts within the ECOWAS.

The two-day roundtable opens on June 14 and will be attended by ITC Executive Director, Arancha Gonzalez; Côte d’Ivoire’s Trade Minister, Jean-Louis Billon; delegates from the 15 ECOWAS countries and representatives from customs and regional organisations.

ITC will present obstacles to trade in ECOWAS highlighted in the six national Non-Tariff Measures (NTMs) business surveys in Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali and Senegal.

By bringing all these stakeholders together, the AfDB and ITC hope to strengthen the dialogue on regional integration issues and propose an action plan to alleviate non-tariff restrictions related to technical regulations, customs requirements and compliance procedures.
