Ministries, Partners and Experts to Meet at AfDB Africa-Asia Knowledge Exchange on Universal Health Coverage

The African Development Bank is organizing is a dialogue forum between African and Asian countries on achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Lusaka, Zambia on June 25-28, 2013.

The Forum will be hosted by the Zambian Ministry of Health and organized in partnership with the German International Cooperation, the International Labour Organization, the World Health Organization and the World Bank. It will gather around 60 representatives from Ministries of Finance and Health, National Health Insurance Authorities, experts, practitioners and development partner from a number of African and Asian countries.

The key aim of the forum will be to facilitate knowledge exchange on building coherent and sustainable health financing systems. The forum will discuss key aspects, the potential as well as the challenges and limitations of different approaches to revenue contribution, pooling, and purchasing in health financing.

The exchange is particularly relevant to Zambia as, like a number of African countries, it is in the process of further developing its health financing system.
