Policy Forum on Teacher Education agrees on development of tool kit

November 28, 2008-Today ended the Teacher Education Policy Forum held in Tunis from November 26-28, 2008. Organized by the ADEA Working Group on the Teaching Profession, the African Development Bank and UNESCO, its objective was to reflect on teacher education policies and processes within the framework of the African Union’s Plan of Action for the Second Decade of Education in Africa. The meeting agreed to develop a tool kit that will assist countries to develop and implement teacher education policies conducive to improving the quality of education in Africa. To this effect, a task team comprising representatives from ADEA, UNESCO and the AfDB will be set up. The meeting was attended by education policy-makers including Ministers of Education, representatives of the African Regional Economic Communities and development partners.
