The 9th African Economic Conference (AEC) will take place at the UN Conference Center, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from November 1st to 3, 2014 under the theme “Knowledge and Innovation for Africa’s Transformation”. The conference is organized each year by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The 9th AEC will provide a unique opportunity for leading researchers, top policy-makers and experienced development practitioners from Africa and around the world to explore the way that Africa generates knowledge and innovation, and the way that its institution then develop the skills, technologies and capacities to apply it.

The event will be opened by Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank; Carlos Lopes, Executive Secretary of UNECA; and Abdoulaye Mar Dieye, Director of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa. H.E. Demitu Hambisa, Ethiopia’s Minister of Science and Technology, will deliver the keynote address.

Scholars and policy-makers from Africa and elsewhere will host roundtable discussions and plenary sessions.
