Tanzania: New President Sworn-In

The newly elected President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete, and his Vice President, Ali Mohamed Shein, were sworn-in on Wednesday for a five-year term of office at the national Stadium in Dar es Salaam. Leaders from around the world attended the swearing-in ceremony, along with the African Development Bank's Resident Representative Sheku Sesay. "Today signifies the beginning of a new phase in the lives of Tanzanians and I wish them continued political stability and economic success in the years ahead," Mr. Sesay said.
