Water Engineers Sponsored by AWF Graduate From 2iE Institute
A delegation representing AWF took part in the graduation ceremony of students of the International Institute of Water and Environmental Engineering (2iE). Hailing from fragile states and post-conflict countries, a total of 12 graduates sponsored by the AWF, including five women, received a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Water and Environmental Engineering.
AWF support for this program totals close to 2 million euros and is managed by the Institute to provide scholarships to students from vulnerable countries. The contribution of the AWF to these countries is part of its goal to strengthen the management of water resources in fragile states through capacity building, specifically by sponsoring the training of future water experts and engineers.
Seven of the total 11 countries eligible for AWF sponsorships are represented by this year’s graduates, including Burkina Faso, Burundi, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo and Chad.
