19/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) and the African Union (AU) have, under the Climate for Development in Africa Program, undertaken a vibrant campaign for financial resources mobilization aimed at making viable the Special ClimDev-Africa Fund, a joint AU-AfDB-ECA initiative, administered by the African Development Bank. In accordance with AfDB procedures, UA 20 million (about US $30 million) were required to make this Fund operational.

21/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) will host the Friends of Zimbabwe Roundtable, to discuss economic and political developments in the country on 23 March. The meeting will also focus on the prospects of dealing with the country's external debt arreears. The presentation of the Zimbabwe Accelerated Arrears, Debt and Development Strategy (ZAADDS) is a useful framework to address the issue of Zimbabwe’s external debt. ZAADDS is a key element of the government’s economic reform agenda.

03/12/2010 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) President, Donald Kaberuka will continue to advocate a shift in the international community focus from aid to development effectiveness, at the 5th European Development Days (EDD) to be held in Brussels, from 6 -7 December 2010. During the High-Level Panel on “Aid Effectiveness Objective Korea 2011 – Is the EU committed to make change happen?”, Mr. Kaberuka, will share a vision of Africa’s development in which Africa is firmly in the driving seat, and aid in a supporting role. This is the vision that will also be shared in Busan, Korea, in November 2011.

The AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka, will share the Bank’s views on aid effectiveness at a High-Level Panel on “Aid Effectiveness Objective Korea 2011 – Is the EU committed to make change happen?” During the session, speakers will discuss progress made in the realization of the Aid Effectiveness agenda set in Paris and Accra. Key issues such as the continuity of budget support to aid delivery; the effectiveness of partnership for development among donors; as well as the future of the global aid architecture post-2011 will also be discussed.

04/09/2009 - Bank Group President, Donald Kaberuka, on Thursday, September 3, 2009, visited the European Parliament in Brussels where he delivered one of the keynote addresses to the European Parliament’s new development commission. The meeting’s focus was on the impact of the international response to the global financial crisis and the global structural reform of financing and aid on developing countries.

07/05/2009 - African Development Bank (AfDB) Group President, Donald Kaberuka, has commended Belgian development cooperation in Africa. Speaking in Brussels on May 6, 2009, during the “Assises de la Coopération belge au développement”, Mr. Kaberuka said in large parts of Africa, Belgian cooperation had distinguished itself, especially in the domains of agriculture, health and governance. He however called for a rethink of the methods that are being used to deliver support to the continent in order to protect achievements of the past.
