18/06/2012 - Land valuation was the topic of the first event held by the African Development Bank (AfDB) at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, or Rio+20, in Rio de Janeiro. The AfDB held the event, entitled “Economic Valuation of Land: An Approach to Advance Sustainable Development in the Context of a Green Economy”, in partnership with Global Mechanism on 14 June.

15/06/2012 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) is at Rio+20 to voice Africa’s agenda until 22 June, with fellow African institutions such as the African Union Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Africa and many leaders from across the continent. The theme for Rio+20 is “The Future We Want.” Africa cannot afford to miss this opportunity to push for the future it wants with a development agenda that matches its aspirations.

23/02/2012 - On 2-3 April 2012, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo and Ghana will join other countries from around the world participating in the Climate Investment Funds’ (CIF) Forest Investment Program (FIP) in Brasilia, Brazil, for their third annual FIP pilot country meeting. As an implementing agent of the CIF, the African Development Bank (AfDB) will also attend.

22/02/2012 - Following the activity of the United Nations Framework for Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP 17) held in Durban, South Africa from 28 November to 10 December 2011, the African Development Bank (AfDB) took a step back to reflect on its role in building capacity for African negotiators and providing technical, legal and communication support for Africa’s shared climate change agenda.

22/02/2012 - At the 18th African Union Summit in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia on 23-30 January 2012, African leaders endorsed the Africa Consensus Statement to Rio+ 20, marking yet another step toward the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+ 20) to take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from 20-22 June 2012. The statement outlines Africa’s key priorities and concerns to be reflected in the outcomes of Rio+ 20 and is the result of many months of collaboration among key stakeholders, including the African Development Bank (AfDB).
