Afin de rendre le développement économique durable, ces ressources doivent être utilisées de telle manière qu'il y en ait suffisamment pour la génération actuelle ainsi que pour la future. Il est donc primordial d'assurer la conservation de l'environnement qui recèle ces ressources naturelles vitales.

29/10/2010 - The Nigerian Central Bank Governor, Lamido Sanusi, has urged Africans to pursue greater industrialization as there is no region that can attain greatness without a solid industrial base. Mr. Sanusi made the statement on Thursday, October 28, 2010, in Tunis, Tunisia, in a keynote address delivered within the framework of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group's African Economic Conference that took place from October 27-29 in the Tunisian capital.

29/10/2010 - The Fifth African Economic Conference (AEC), in Tunis from 27 to 29 October 2010, was an opportunity for AfDB Research Economists, Marco Stampini and Désiré Vencatachellum; and Ron Leung, from Oxford Center for Study of African Economy, to present a study on the importance of human potential during the 2008-2009 crisis. Presented under the title: “Can human capital contribute to protecting workers in the event of external shocks?”

29/10/2010 - “Since 2003 good governance has increased the impact of financial liberalization on financial development”, said John Karikari, Assistant Director of the Centre for Economics of the US Government Accountability Office (GAO). Mr Karikari, whose paper entitled “Governance, Financial Liberalization, and Financial Development in Sub Saharan Africa” was presented and discussed at a seminar on Governance Issues, during the African Economic Conference on Thursday 28th October 2010, in Tunis.

29/10/2010 - One of the landmarks of the Fifth African Economic Conference held from October 27-29, 2010 in Tunis, Tunisia was the joint-launch by AfDB, UNDP and IDEP of the Gender and Economic Policy Management Initiative (GEPMI-Africa). After the launch on October 28, Ms Winnie Byanyima, UNDP Gender Team Director, who was instrumental in the setting up GEPMI provided additional perspectives on the initiative.

29/10/2010 - Infrastructure constraints and ineffective tools for trade facilitation, such as customs services and standards that make the movement of goods on the continent expensive, are some of the reasons why intra-African trade accounts for only 9.6% of total goods exports in the region. Based on this diagnosis, the AfDB supports the Aid for Trade Initiative (ATI) in several regions of the continent.
