27/02/2009 - The 4th Governing Council meeting of the Congo Basin Forest Fund (CBFF) will take place on 2 and 3 March 2009, in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). The order of business will include discussions centred on the establishment of the CBFF Secretariat in the African Development Bank (AfDB) offices in Tunis, Yaoundé and Kinshasa and making decisions on projects proposal to be funded under the 1st Call for Proposals issued in June 2008.

08/05/2008 - The Inga Hydro-electric Project has continued to inspire Africa, which badly needs energy to support its development plans. For some years now, the African and international energy community is talking about it, but nothing seems to be happening. Yet the ADB recently disbursed the amounts required to activate the project: 58 million dollars for the rehabilitation of Inga 1 and Inga 2 power plants, and more than 15 million dollars for a study to identify the optimal development scenario of the project. The figures are quite promising: an energy potential of up to 39 000 MW, which is enough to cover the long-term needs of some 800 million Africans.

30/04/2008 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), a member of the African Development Bank (ADB) Group, on Wednesday in Tunis approved a grant of 9,510,000 Units of Account (UA), which is equivalent to about 15.7 million dollars, to finance a study on the development of the Inga hydro-electric site and related interconnections in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
