29/03/2012 - The first Africa Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) will take place from April 1-3, 2012 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Nairobi. Hosted by the Government of Kenya, it will include an Experts’ Meeting (April 1-2) and a Ministerial Conference (April 3), and will highlight the need to invest in this key sector to foster human capital development, inclusive growth, and provide job opportunities for youth and women.

07/03/2012 - The African Development Bank will be celebrating International Women’s Day on Thursday, 8 March. It is an event that is now more than 100 years old. International Women’s Day first began in 1911 when women were fighting for basic rights such as the right to vote, to hold public office and even to hold down a job.

29/02/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), rated Aaa/AAA/AAA, today announced that it will offer an Education Support Bond to Japanese retail investors. The bond will be distributed by Tokai Tokyo Securities, Nishimura Securities, Banyo Securities and Rakuten Securities.

21/12/2011 - The African Development Bank Group’s board of directors has approved a USD15.6 million grant from its concessionary lending arm, the African Development Fund (ADF) to help strengthen the capacity of African Virtual University (AVU).

16/12/2011 - The African Development Bank’s Group Board of Directors approved an African Development Fund (ADF) grant of USD 19.2 million to Eritrea on November 30, 2011 to improve equitable access, quality and relevance of technical, vocational education and training. The project will be financed jointly by an ADF grant of USD 18.65 million and an Eritrean Government’s contribution of USD 2.06 million.

09/12/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) has approved on 7 December a corporate loan of South African rand (ZAR) 65 million equivalent to USD 8 million to Trustco Group Holdings Ltd to support the Trustco Finance student lending program thus improving access to education, employability and job-earning potential of high school graduates in the country.
