06/09/2012 - Construction et exploitation d’une centrale de 67,5 MW alimentée au fuel lourd dans la localité de Kounoune à 23 km à l’est de Dakar. Le Projet comprend aussi la construction d’un oléoduc d’alimentation en carburant (fuel lourd) et d’un poste de transformation sur le site du projet.

06/09/2012 - Construction, exploitation et entretien d’une centrale électrique alimentée au charbon de 125 MW sur un site de 29 hectares situé à 35 km de Dakar à Sendou (Bargny). Le Projet produira chaque année 925 GWh d’électricité, soit environ 40 % de la consommation du Sénégal en 2010. Le projet contribuera à résoudre la crise actuelle dans le secteur de l’électricité en permettant de remplacer la production de générateurs d’urgence en location et de centrales âgées, ainsi qu’en permettant un meilleur entretien des autres centrales du parc de production.

04/09/2012 - Mr. Gabriel Negatu, AfDB’s Regional Director in charge of the East African Regional Centre (EARC), paid an official visit to the Bank-funded Menengai geothermal site in Kenya’s Rift Valley last Friday. The 400 MW project will cost approximately US $488 million, with the AfDB providing US $120 million, and is expected to increase the country’s installed capacity by almost 30 per cent.

03/09/2012 - Over the first half of 2012, the African Development Bank (AfDB) has been demonstrating its commitment to support the scaling up of renewable energy in Africa with the approval of US $800 million in loans to spur private investment in Morocco’s growing wind and solar markets. The Bank’s technical and financial support of Morocco’s plan to develop a concentrated solar power (CSP) plant at Ouarzazate and its Integrated Wind/Hydro and Rural Electrification Program is helping Morocco realize its goal of increasing installed renewable energy capacity to 42 per cent by 2020 and becoming a renewable energy industry leader.

27/08/2012 - The Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA), a joint initiative of the Danish government and the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC) of the African Development Bank (AfDB), approved on August 17 its first grant of USD 825,000 to finance the concept phase of the Green Tech Financial Facility – a vehicle for investments in private-sector driven green technology projects – including market scoping and positioning studies, fund conceptualization and fund manager selection.
