The LPI will convene a High Level Forum on Land-Based Foreign Direct Investments in Africa, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya from 4 to 5 October, 2011. The Forum will bring together a diversity of multi-disciplinary expertise from the continent and beyond, including experts from government agencies, regional economic communities, civil society organizations, private sector; traditional chiefs; eminent African personalities including former African Heads of State and Government; Parliamentarians, African Ministers in charge of Land Administration and Development Partners. Over 150 participants are expected.

The co-organizers include the International Dialogue on Peace-building and State-building, OECD and the fragile and post-conflict countries group, as well as the African Union Commission and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.

The 2nd Council meeting of the African Tax Administrators Forum (ATAF) opened on Monday, 15 November 2010 in Tunis. Jontly organised by the African Development Bank (AfDB) and ATAF, the meeting is in line with the AfDB's effort to help in strengthening domestic resources mobilization, fiscal self reliance and capacity development in Africa as well as to reinforce the Bank’s strategic partnership with ATAF. Dozens of participants will attend the meeting.

The fifth meeting of the Committee of Ten Finance Ministers and Governors (C-10) will take place in Washington, DC on 6 October 2010, preceded by the second meeting of the C10 Deputies on October 5. The C10 is mandated by African leaders to review the impact of the financial crisis on Africa, to advise on Africa’s response, and to put forward African perspectives to the G20. The meeting in Washington follows the recent Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) ministerial meeting in Seoul. It is intended to help put development and Africa at the center of the G20 agenda in Seoul.

A French parliamentary mission, led by Member of Parliament, Jean-Paul Bacquet, was received on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Tunis by African Development Bank Group officials where it held a series of discussions. The mission sought to identify how to better coordinate bilateral and multilateral aid, including that delivered by the Bank Group. The delegation also sought to know how to enhance their geographic and sectoral complementarity. Discussions during their meetings also focused on strategic partnerships between the Bank Group and France in priority cooperation areas.

This Initiative aims to assist African countries in their fight against bribery of public officials in business transactions and to improve corporate integrity and accountability.
