In partnership with the Observatory of Sahara and Sahel (OSS), the Stockholm Environment Institute, and the United Nations Environment programme (UNEP), the African Development Bank (AfDB) will on 27 and 28 April 2010 organize a two-day Roundtable on the Economics of Adaptation in Africa. The roundtable will bring together key global experts to develop a common understanding of climate change impacts and adaptation costs estimates. The roundtable is also expected to engender a better understanding of the inter-linkages between adaptation and development.

A French parliamentary mission, led by Member of Parliament, Jean-Paul Bacquet, was received on Thursday, April 15, 2010, in Tunis by African Development Bank Group officials where it held a series of discussions. The mission sought to identify how to better coordinate bilateral and multilateral aid, including that delivered by the Bank Group. The delegation also sought to know how to enhance their geographic and sectoral complementarity. Discussions during their meetings also focused on strategic partnerships between the Bank Group and France in priority cooperation areas.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) on Wednesday, 14 April 2010, in Tunis received a Malian delegation led by the country’s energy and water minister, Igor Diarra. The delegation was received on Wednesday afternoon by AfDB president, Donald Kaberuka. Discussions during the meeting focused on AfDB-Mali cooperation as well as the financing of a number of projects in the country.

The African Development Group is will host in Tunis, on 8th-9th April 2010, an important PIDA workshop. PIDA is the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa, a joint initiative lead by the African Union Commission (AUC), the NEPAD Secretariat and the African Development Bank (ADB), for the development of infrastructure in Africa.
