An African Development Bank (AfDB) Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Eastern Africa will be validated at a workshop scheduled to take place on 11 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The RISP covers Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is designed to support for regional infrastructure and institutional capacity building, including trade facilitation.

Robust domestic resource mobilization is the cornerstone for sustainable development. Donor assistance can bridge the fiscal gap for a while but ultimately cannot substitute for well established mechanisms for generating domestic revenue.

The next African Union (AU) Summit of Heads of State and Government will take place from July 25-27, 2010, in Kampala, Uganda. The 15th session will be held on the theme: "Maternal, newborn and child health and development in Africa." The African Tax Administrators Forum (ATAF), an African network of tax commissioners, was officially launched at a ceremony in Kampala, Uganda, opened by the President of Uganda, Mr. Yoweri Museveni on 19-20 November 2009. The inaugural conference was attended by 29 African tax commissioners, as well as policy-makers and development partners.
