The 2012 Climate Investment Funds (CIF) Partnership Forum will take place in Istanbul, Turkey on November 6-7, 2012. The Forum, a global gathering of CIF’s diverse stakeholders, will offer plenary and parallel sessions to explore ways to maximize CIF’s effectiveness. At the Forum, the AfDB will lead a session on “Enabling Environment as an Engine for Private Sector Contribution to Sustainable Development” on November 6 from 2:00-4:00 pm.

Coalition for Dialogue on Africa (CoDA), the Initiative for African Land Policy (LPI) and Section Support to the Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) of the ECA will organize a day of dialogue on natural resources management in Africa on October 22, 2012, in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).

The Bank, through the natural resources and environment management, and the compliance and safeguard divisions, is holding two regional workshops in Dakar, Senegal (July 5-6, 2012) for francophone participants and Nairobi, Kenya (July 12-13, 2012) for Anglophone participants. Serving as a platform to share experiences and lessons learned in implementing Environmental and Social Management Plans, the workshop will bring together eighty-five (85) environmental and social specialists implementing agriculture and natural resources management projects in an effort to enhance their capacity in implementing ESMPs.

As one of the main implementers of the Climate Investment Funds (CIF) in Africa, the African Development Bank (AfDB) will host the 2011 CIF Partnership Forum in Cape Town, South Africa from 24-25 June 2011. AfDB Vice President, Bobby Pittman, is expected to give opening remarks and welcome over 400 delegates expected from recipient countries, other multilateral development banks, UN agencies, donor countries and other stakeholders.
