The African Development Bank Group will, on March 6, 2013 in Tunis, host the 2nd governing council meeting of the Africa fertilizer financing mechanism (AFFM). AFFM aims to create a catalytic environment for the investments needed in Africa to enhance fertilizer production and consumption at affordable prices. It focuses on two types of activities, namely facilitation and encouraging the private sector to invest in fertilizer ventures aimed at expanding national and regional production capacity.

The President of the African Development Bank Group, Donald Kaberuka, is undertaking an official visit to India from January 30 to February 1, to participate as keynote speaker in the Delhi Sustainable Development Summit and hold meetings with senior Indian officials. The goal of the visit is to strengthen ties with the South Asian giant, particularly in areas of partnership and resource mobilization.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) will hold its annual Partnerships Forum from 22 – 23 March 2012, at Hotel Ramada Plaza-Gammarth in Tunis, Tunisia. This year’s forum theme is “Transforming Partnerships towards a Green and Inclusive Africa.” Participants will include representatives of bilateral and multilateral donors, business sector, private foundations, knowledge institutions and Civil Society Organizations.

The African Development Bank (AfDB) in collaboration with EMRC will organize an SME Forum at the margins of the Bank’s Annual Meetings to be held in Lisbon, Portugal from 6-7 June 2011. The title of the Event is: “Bridging the missing middle gap in Africa”. In financial market terminology, the missing middle also refers to the gap between microfinance at one end and traditional institutional financing at the other.

The AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka, will share the Bank’s views on aid effectiveness at a High-Level Panel on “Aid Effectiveness Objective Korea 2011 – Is the EU committed to make change happen?” During the session, speakers will discuss progress made in the realization of the Aid Effectiveness agenda set in Paris and Accra. Key issues such as the continuity of budget support to aid delivery; the effectiveness of partnership for development among donors; as well as the future of the global aid architecture post-2011 will also be discussed.
