09/06/2009 - A conference on "contracting out Core Government Functions and Services in Fragile and Post-Conflict Situations," an issue considered to be one of the daunting development challenges of the time, got underway on Monday, June 8th, 2009, in Tunis, where discussants delved into conditions under which contracting out services can be effective and, at the same time, conducive to state building in fragile and post-conflict countries.

26/05/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group Executive Board of Directors today discussed a concept note proposing a short-term strategy for the AfDB to help Zimbabwe address the challenges it faces and to support the country’s re-engagement with the international community. Directors expressed firm support for the strategy and applauded the initiatives taken by the AfDB President and management, noting that the Bank should play a leading role, as it has, indeed, been requested by African countries.
