07/03/2008 - Poverty within the African context is wide-ranging indeed. The variations emanate not only from differences in perception, but also differences in culture. Broadly speaking, I would define poverty to be a condition where people are unable to attain a minimum standard of living, lack access to basic needs such as education, health, and are not empowered. And as far as women’s empowerment is concerned, the continent still has a long way to go.

13/12/2007 - Representatives from donor countries agreed today to a record level of support for the African Development Fund (ADF), the soft window of the African Development Bank. Over the next three years (2008-2010), the total resources available to the ADF will reach US$ 8.9 billion, an increase of 52% over the 2005-2007 period.

18/04/2005 - Tunis, 18 April 2005 – A Pan-African conference on "Promoting the Development of African Women in Business (AWIB) 1: Towards Economic and Social Leadership", opens at the Hotel Hilton Yaoundé in Cameroon on Monday, under the auspices of the Private Sector Department of the African Development Bank (AfDB). The event is being co-organized with the African Network for Support to Women Entrepreneurs (ANSWE) and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
