31/05/2011 - For many experts, “Inclusive growth” in the 2011 Annual Meetings is seen as a development strategic issue worth discussing. As part of the growing interest in the meeting’s agenda, experts at the African Development Bank (AfDB) have individually or collectively joined their voices to express the importance of the issue. Godfred Penn has also made it a point to pass his opinion as the Legal Counsel and Adviser to the Bank’s General Counsel.

AfDB at Harvard African Law and Development Conference

21/04/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) legal counsel, Kalidou Gadio, was in the U.S. where he participated in the 2010 Harvard African Law and Development Conference from 16-18 April 2010. Speaking during the event, Mr. Gadio focused on "The role of law in development for the African continent from a development agency perspective."

The Constitutive Assembly of the African Legal Support Facility takes place on June 29, 2009, in Tunis to adopt text establishing the institution and to set up its management organs, in particular, a governing council, management board and the executive council. African Development Bank (AfDB) Governors will personally attend or authorize senior Bank staff to represent them at the event. The Agreement on the Facility will be signed as a Treaty, and additional resources will be mobilized to reinforce its activities. Ministers of Justice and Attorneys General are expected to attend the launching.

24/06/2009 - A new international organization established to level the field in litigation of debt claims by vulture funds against African countries and in the negotiation of complex commercial transactions, especially on extractive resources, has been created.
