27/02/2013 - An African Development Bank team composed of experts from the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC) and the Sierra Leone Field Office (SLFO) completed its second green growth mission to Sierra Leone from February 4 to 8, 2013. The objective of the mission was to work further with Government counterparts on mainstreaming green growth into Sierra Leone’s Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP) – (2013–2017) called “Agenda for Prosperity”, currently under preparation.

25/02/2013 - Stakeholders across Mozambique gathered in a consultation on the country’s developing Green Growth Action Plan (GGAP) in December 2012. The African Development Bank (AfDB) team lead the work to support the Government. Participants in the consultations involved representatives from Government, private sector, civil society, development partners and academia in full-day presentation and discussion events in the three regions of the country: north, centre and south.

18/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) jointly organized the workshop “Green Growth in Africa: Concepts, Tools and Strategies for Building Greener Economies and a Sustainable Future”. Hosted by the Zambian Ministry of Lands in Lusaka in January, the workshop attracted over 100 participants from 18 African countries, including representatives from bilateral and multilateral organizations.

26/09/2012 - African Development Bank (AfDB) staff from the Energy, Environment and Climate Change Department (ONEC3) and the Sierra Leone Field Office (SLFO) undertook a mission from September 3-7 in Sierra Leone to support the Government in its efforts to mainstream green growth into its Agenda for Prosperity. The Agenda for Prosperity, which is the country’s third Poverty Reduction Strategy Paper (PRSP3), is currently being drafted by a broad spectrum of stakeholders across all government ministries. With the AfDB’s green growth intervention in the PRSP, the country will establish itself as the first fragile state in Africa to embrace green growth as a development opportunity.

04/09/2012 - The President of the Republic of Mozambique, H.E. Armando Emilio Guebuza, officially launched the country’s Green Economy Roadmap on June 21 during a high level side event at the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development (Rio+20). Event participants included Dr. Donald Kaberuka, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Mr. Jim Leape, Director-General of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), and senior members from the Mozambique government, including the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Environment, Planning and Development, Agriculture, and Mineral Resources.

27/08/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), in partnership with the World Bank, the United Nations and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), prepared a policy toolkit on inclusive green growth for the G20 Leaders’ Summit, held in Los Cabos, Mexico, in June, at the request of the G20 Development Working Group (DWG). Green Growth is one of the three priorities under the Mexican Presidency.

18/06/2012 - How to ease the path of green growth in Africa was the subject of an African Development Bank (AfDB) event at the UN Conference on Sustainable Development, or Rio+20, in Rio de Janeiro. The event, entitled “Facilitating Green Growth in Africa: Perspectives from the African Development Bank”, was held on 14 June.
