25/01/2013 - A consultation and planning workshop for the African Nutritional Sciences Research Consortium hosted by Columbia University’s Global Center for Africa opened in Nairobi, Kenya, on Thursday, January 24. The workshop aims to provide a forum in which views and ideas of major stakeholders will be sought to inform long-term plans and strategies in implementing the nutritional sciences consortium.

23/01/2013 - On January 22, 2013, Government leaders, health experts and representatives from the private sector met at a high-level seminar in Oslo, Norway. The conference set out to examine key aspects of the global health agenda in the context of the Millennium Development Goals and launch a yearly progress report on Norway’s Global MDG Campaign - Accelerating Progress in Saving the Lives of Women and Children.

11/01/2013 - Somen Debnath, a 29-year old Indian cyclist, presented his “Around the World Bicycle Tour for HIV/AIDS Awareness Program and Seminars on Indian Culture” on Thursday, January10, 2013 to African Development Bank staff in Tunis. Cycling from Morocco and Algeria, he just arrived in Tunisia where he intends to meet with schools, NGOs as well as the Tunisian President and Government officials representing Ministries of Education, Health, Youth, and Sports.

10/01/2013 - “Building a new post-revolutionary Tunisia based on the ideas of young people and the strengthening the spirit of entrepreneurship” is the theme of the announcement ceremony for the beneficiaries of Souk At-tanmia, a recent pilot initiative and partnership in favour of entrepreneurship, economic development and social cohesion and job creation in Tunisia. The ceremony was held today in the auditorium of the Cité des Sciences in Tunis, an iconic symbol that is synonymous with innovation and youth.

04/01/2013 - The African Development Bank and the Government of Malawi officially launched the UA 29.45 million Malawi Higher Education, Science and Technology (HEST) Project in Ntchisi, Malawi, in December. The Bank has provided an ADF loan of UA 9.05 million and a grant of UA 10 million plus an additional loan of UA 6.5 million from the Nigerian Trust Fund, while the Government of Malawi is to provide UA 2.95 million in counterpart funding.
