20/05/2010 - The celebration of the final splice of the Main One submarine cable, a project financed in part by the African Development Bank (AfDB) through its private sector window, was held on Wednesday, 19 May 2010 at the Tema Port in Ghana. This landing marks the successful completion of phase one of this project.

03/02/2010 - The 14th ordinary Assembly of the African Union’s Heads of State, held from 31 January to 2 February 2010 in Addis Ababa, called for a resolution to mobilize additional financial resources for the African Development Bank. In a decision taken in the framework of a plan of action to revive the African economy, the Heads of State and of Government made a strong call in favour of the sixth General Capital Increase for the Bank, and for the 12th replenishment of concessional resources for the African Development Fund (ADF 12).

In Africa, they have incontestably changed thinking on development policy. On the continent, many countries have relied on these technologies in their development efforts. Similarly, the 14th Ordinary Session of the Conference of Heads of State and Government scheduled to take place in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, from 31 January to 2 February, 2010, will be held on the theme: “Information and Communication Technologies in Africa: Challenges and Prospects for Development.” The AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka, will attend the summit.

30/09/2009 - The African Development Bank Group (AfDB) and Main One Cable Company signed a loan agreement of USD 61 million towards the development of a submarine fiber optic cable connection along the West African coast. With this investment, the Bank has further expanded its wide support for African ICT projects following investments in the East African “EaSSy” submarine cable and the two satellites Rascom and New Dawn
