27/10/2010 - The 27-29 October 2010 African Economic Conference (AEC) jointly organized in Tunis by the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the Development Bank for Southern Africa (DBSA) on the theme “Setting the Agenda for Africa’s Economic Recovery and Long-Term Growth” will be significantly different from previous editions, AfDB’s Chief Economist and Vice-president, Mthuli Ncube said.

Uzoamaka Nwamarah

29/04/2010 - The Gender, Climate Change and Sustainable Development (OSUS) Unit recently hosted a roundtable on the economics of adaptation. The unit will, from April 29-30, 2010, host a seminar on the theme: ‘Prospects for an Africa Carbon Facility’. The climate change specialist, Uzoamaka Nwamarah, has been coordinating Bank efforts towards the Africa Carbon Facility. In an interview with BIA, Ms. Nwamarah explains what the facility is all about.

Mamadou Igor Diarra

16/04/2010 - M. Mamadou Igor Diarra, ministre de l’énergie et de l’eau du Mali, a été reçu, le mercredi 14 avril par le président Donald Kaberuka, et s’est prêté aux questions cruciales de l’approvisionnement en eau dans son pays. «Grâce aux facilités de la Banque, nous avons pu améliorer l’accès à l’eau potable, qui est aujourd’hui à 73% dans notre pays» a-t-il souligné. Pour un homme dont la réputation est associée aux questions bancaires, M. Igor Diarra a fait preuve d’une rare maîtrise de la question de l’eau et des nombreux défis qu’elle pose à son pays, le Mali.
