20/01/2010 - Kenya Resident Representative, Domina Buzingo, and the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the African Trade Insurance Company (ATI), Stewart Kinloch, have signed a grant of USD 1 million from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA).
29/10/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan have approved a grant of USD 1,000,000 to the African Trade Insurance Agency (ATI) from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA). ATI is a multilateral financial institution, created in 2001, providing export credit insurance, political risk insurance, investment insurance and other financial products to help reduce the business risks and costs of doing business in Africa.

29/10/2009 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan have approved a grant of USD 989,000 to la Société Nationale Industrielle et Minière (SNIM) of Mauritania to be paid from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA). The Technical Assistance contribution from FAPA, which comprises over 50% of the overall TA package, will enhance SNIM’s institutional and operational capacities to implement the Environmental and Social Management Plan for the Guelbs II Expansion Project financed in part by the AfDB.

06/10/2009 - Japan and the African Development Bank (AfDB) have committed a grant of USD 1,000,000 to the African Training and Management Services Project (ATMS) from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA). In a ceremony organized on the side of the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings in Istanbul, a grant agreement was signed today by AfDB Private Sector Operations Director, Mr. Tim Turner and ATMS Chairman Mr. J. Berteling.

06/10/2009 - Japan and the African Development Bank (AFDB) have committed a grant of USD 500,000 to the African Business Roundtable (ABR) from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA). In a ceremony organized on the side of the World Bank/IMF Annual Meetings in Istanbul, a grant agreement was signed by AfDB Private Sector Operations Director, Mr. Tim Turner and ABR President Dr. Bamanga Tukur.

16/06/2009 - The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President, Sadako Ogata, has said Africa has made steady progress over the years, showing an average economic growth of 6% since the 1990s. Mrs. Ogata made this statement while delivering a lecture in Tunis on the theme: Peace and Development in Africa: Upholding the Conditions” to Bank staff, members of the diplomatic corps, the media and development specialists. The lecture falls within the framework of the Bank’s Eminent Speakers Series.

23/04/2009 - Le bureau de la BAD au Burkina Faso a reçu, le 22 avril 2009, une mission du Ministère des Finances du Japon, composée de cinq membres et conduite par Monsieur Yasuaki YONEYAMA, ex. Administrateur du Japon à la Banque. Les échanges ont porté sur l’état d’avancement du Projet d’appui au processus de mise en œuvre du Cadre stratégique de réduction de la pauvreté (CSLP), d’un montant de 750 0000 £, financé par le fonds fiduciaire du Japon.

12/09/2008 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Government of Japan signed in Tunis a bilateral Exchange of Notes for a loan to the AfDB of JPY 32.1 billion, equivalent to USD 300 million. The "Second Private Sector Assistance Loan under the Joint Initiative titled EPSA for Africa" helps finance the AfDB’s private sector operations. The loan is provided by Japan on concessional terms, The Exchange of Notes was signed by AfDB President, Donald Kaberuka and Shigeru Endo, Ambassador of Japan in Tunisia.
