21/12/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved 3 projects in the water sector in the last few weeks amounting to USD 114.35 Million. The Bank strongly believes supporting the sector is important to enhancing economic growth, improving living conditions as well as the health and education sectors of beneficiary countries.

20/12/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) organized, through its NEPAD, Regional Integration and Trade Department, in collaboration with the Monetary and Capital Markets Department of the International Monetary Fund, a regional training workshop on cross-border banking and consolidated supervision from 6-10 December 2010 in Nairobi, Kenya, as follow-up activities to the AfDB’s study on “Financial Sector Integration in three regions in Africa”.

An African Development Bank (AfDB) Regional Integration Strategy Paper (RISP) for Eastern Africa will be validated at a workshop scheduled to take place on 11 November in Nairobi, Kenya. The RISP covers Burundi, Comoros, Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda. It is designed to support for regional infrastructure and institutional capacity building, including trade facilitation.

21/10/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Wednesday, 20 October 2010 in Tunis, a USD 10-million loan to the African Guarantee Fund (AGF) to enable small and medium enterprises (SMEs) gain greater access to credit.

21/10/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) approved on Wednesday 20 October 2010 in Tunis, a USD 15-million equity investment in Catalyst Fund, a 10-year multi-sector private equity based in Kenya primarily covering the East Africa Community (EAC) as well as DRC, Ethiopia and Zambia. The target market has a population of 280 million, with a USD 126 billion combined GDP.

16/06/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group has approved a supplementary loan of UA 22.05 million* (USD 32.5 million) to Kenya under the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the Group. The additional loan will finance the Kenya-Uganda transmission line and sub-station reinforcement within Kenya. The Kenya-Uganda transmission line is part of the Nile Equatorial Lakes (NEL) Countries Electric Grids Interconnection Project.
