20/12/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), and the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), have successfully launched the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) Payments System Development Project in Liberia financed through a supplementary grant of UA5 million (USD 7.6 million).

10/11/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on Tuesday, 9 November 2010 in Tunis, a USD 7.8-million (UA 5 million) grant to the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), to cover the additional cost arising from the extension of the institute’s project to Liberia.

06/10/2010 - The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 6 October 2010 approved a debt relief package for Liberia, noting that the country had effectively met the conditions and requirements under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI).

20/05/2010 - The African Development bank (AfDB) Group Board of Directors met on Wednesday, 19 May 2010 in Tunis and approved over USD 313 for five operations. Under the approvals Liberia will received USD 39.40 million comprising an ADF grant and a Fragile States Facility (FSF) grant: to finance the country’s urban water supply and sanitation project. The provision of water supply and sanitation on a sustainable basis to rural and urban dwellers in Liberia constitutes a priority development objective for the government, which significantly contributes to the fight against poverty and disease.

Liberia: AfDB Approves Urban Water and Sanitation Project to Benefit More than Half a Million People
19/05/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on 19 May 2010 in Tunis, a grant of UA 24.63 million, equivalent to 37.22 million USD, and a Fragile State Facility grant of UA 1.46 million (equivalent to 2.21 million USD) to finance an urban water supply and sanitation project in Liberia.

AfDB Staff from the Development Research Department and the Sierra Leone Field Office launched the 2009 African Economic Outlook (AEO) and African Development Report (ADR) on Tuesday June 30th in Liberia. The event took place in Monrovia, under the auspices of Liberia’s Minister of Finance Hon. Augustine Ngafuan.
