23/04/2012 - Teams from Ethiopia, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, and Tanzania joined counterparts from around the world at the annual pilot countries meeting for the Scaling Up Renewable Energy Program in Low Income Countries (SREP) in Nairobi, Kenya from 5 to 7 March 2012. Held annually to provide a space for pilot countries to discuss experiences, lessons learned and best practices in developing and activating SREP investment plans, the meeting this year offered African nations the opportunity to showcase their progress in advancing initiatives in renewable energy.

08/03/2012 - I look forward to the day when I will no longer be referred to as the first and only female president in Africa. The women of Africa are empowering themselves and taking on leadership roles in all facets of society, and I am happy to serve as a role model and trailblazer for those who will come after me. As for balancing family life and my responsibilities as President, let me say that by the time I became President in 2006, my sons were all grown men, pursuing successful professional careers and with families of their own.
23/02/2012 - Between 5 and March 2012, teams from Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Liberia and Tanzania will be in Nairobi, Kenya, to attend the third meeting of pilot countries participating in the Scaling-up Renewable Energy Program (SREP), a Climate Investment Funds (CIF) program.

22/06/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Tuesday approved a USD 48-million budget support grant to finance Liberia’s Economic Governance and Competitiveness Support Program. The grant is provided from the Bank’s Fragile State Facility.

20/12/2010 - The African Development Bank (AfDB), the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), and the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), have successfully launched the West African Monetary Zone (WAMZ) Payments System Development Project in Liberia financed through a supplementary grant of UA5 million (USD 7.6 million).

10/11/2010 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Fund (ADF), the concessional window of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group, approved on Tuesday, 9 November 2010 in Tunis, a USD 7.8-million (UA 5 million) grant to the West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), to cover the additional cost arising from the extension of the institute’s project to Liberia.

06/10/2010 - The Boards of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group on Wednesday, 6 October 2010 approved a debt relief package for Liberia, noting that the country had effectively met the conditions and requirements under the Heavily Indebted Poor Countries (HIPC) Initiative and the Multilateral Debt Relief Initiative (MDRI).
