26/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the West African Development Bank (WADB) signed a loan agreement of a capital subscription of EUR 3.05 million and a line of credit of EUR 64 million to the West African Development Bank (WADB). The objective of this facility is to strengthen WADB’s financial capacities and to assert its role as a strategic partner of AfDB in financing the private sector, the engine of growth in West Africa.

16/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Kenyan government signed loan and grant agreements totaling some USD 336 million in support of clean energy and road infrastructure development in Kenya on 12 March. The financial package includes a USD 186.7 million loan for the Mombasa-Nairobi-Addis Ababa Road Corridor Project and a USD 149.5 million loan and grant financing for the Menengai Geothermal Development Project.

16/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) has signed two grant agreements with the Gambian government totalling USD 7 million to improve access to clean drinking water and better sanitation for an estimated 40,000 people in rural areas of the country and cut hygiene-related deaths in those areas, particularly among children.

31/01/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the World Customs Organization (WCO) will work together to enhance the capacity of customs administrations in Africa. The declaration was made yesterday evening in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, during the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, on the margins of the 18th African Union Summit.

18/01/2012 - The African Development Bank and the Government of Uganda signed two separate agreements on 12 January to finance projects to improve health services delivery and access to water and sanitation in both urban and rural areas of Uganda, with a total investment of USD 155.8 million. This double deal is expected to boost the country’s efforts to meet the 2015 Millennium Development Goals for health, water and sanitation.

18/01/2012 - Kampala residents in Uganda will gain access to better healthcare with the implementation of the Mulago Hospital service delivery improvement project co-financed by the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group to the tune of USD 98.8 million.
12/01/2012 - Up to 2.4 million people in rural areas and small towns across Uganda should have improved access to water supply and sanitation by 2016. This follows the African Development Bank (AfDB) signing on 11 January of USD 67 million package to finance the implementation of Uganda’s Water and Sanitation Programme. The project aligns with Uganda’s national goal to increase access to water supply and sanitation services, to achieve 100 percent coverage by 2035.
