04/03/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Investment and Development Bank of the Economic Community of West African States (EBID) signed today a grant agreement amounting to US $950,000 to strengthen the EBID institutional capacities. The signing ceremony, held during the inauguration of the AfDB national office in Togo, was chaired by Serge N’Guessan, AfDB Resident Representative in Togo, and Bashir Ifo, EBID President.

05/02/2013 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) signed on Tuesday, January 29, 2013 an agreement to provide two sovereign-guaranteed multi-tranche lines of credit (LoCs) of respectively US $500 million to Bank of Industry (BOI) and of US $200 million to Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM) in order to support the modernization and expansion of export-oriented small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The LoCs will allow local SMEs to be more competitive, scale up their operations and ultimately create more jobs in Nigeria.

05/10/2012 - Mr. Ebrima Faal, Regional Director at the Southern Africa Resource Center (SARC) of the African Development Bank (AfDB), signed on behalf of the AfDB the agreements for a loan of ZAR 65 million from the AfDB to Trustco Finance (part of the Namibia based “Trustco” group) to support its student lending program in Namibia. The signing ceremony took place in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital. Also taking part in the ceremony were DEG and Proparco who signed the agreements for loans to Trustco Finance of ZAR 50 million each.

26/03/2012 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the West African Development Bank (WADB) signed a loan agreement of a capital subscription of EUR 3.05 million and a line of credit of EUR 64 million to the West African Development Bank (WADB). The objective of this facility is to strengthen WADB’s financial capacities and to assert its role as a strategic partner of AfDB in financing the private sector, the engine of growth in West Africa.

20/12/2011 - The Board of Directors of the African Development Bank (AfDB) Group approved an African Development Fund (ADF) loan of USD 155.2 million to the United Republic of Tanzania on 16 December 2011. The loan will help support private sector reform and economic governance within the framework of the Governance and Economic Competitiveness Support Programme. The African Development Fund is the AfDB Group’s concessional or ‘soft loan’ arm.

22/11/2011 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and finance company, Mauritania Leasing, signed an agreement on 15 November in Dakar for a grant of USD 365,000 provided by the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA) to help finance small and medium-sized enterprises in the country.

17/11/2011 - The African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Bank of Kigali today signed a USD 12 million line of credit and a USD 500,000 grant agreement for technical assistance from the Fund for African Private Sector Assistance (FAPA). The AfDB’s line of credit will improve the Bank of Kigali’s liquidity and improve its ability to support key economic sectors, such as infrastructure, manufacturing, agri-business and tourism.

17/10/2011 - The Japanese government has increased its assistance to private sector projects in Africa through a concessional, or ‘soft’, loan of JPY 8,440 billion, or approximately USD 100 million, to the African Development Bank (AFDB).
